What is a Cold Cathode Florescent (CCF)?

A cold cathode florescent is a type of light bulb that is extremely efficient.  It draws substantially less power than traditional incandescent or florescent bulbs.  Because this type of florescent does not need a heating element to start the light, they are considered cold cathode florescent.

These bulbs were developed for backlighting LCD computer monitors and televisions.

Life expectancy (MTBF) is 25,000 to 30,000 hours.

Since CCFLs operate at just above ambient temperature the lights can be safely placed in almost any location.

Lighting Efficiency (lumens/watt) of incandescent bulbs is approximately 10 l/w. White LED's are currently at 50 to 60 l/w.  Compact fluorescents are around 60 l/w, but our advanced CCFL lamps are emitting 90 l/w.
